How it Works:

Montville Township Public Library cardholders, 18 years or older who have cards in good standing may reserve and borrow passes and visit museums without having to pay an admission fee.

Each museum has different benefits, including number of people admitted, discounts to shops and parking. Borrowers are responsible for calling or checking the museum’s website directly for hours of operations, current exhibits, parking or directions. Each museum determines the rules and regulations governing the use of the museum pass.

A borrower may reserve a pass by phone, to be picked up the same day before Library closing time, up to 60 days in advance or available on a first-come, first served, walk-in basis by calling the library at 973-402-0900 when the Library is open.

Library cardholders will be permitted to borrow one museum pass set every 30 days.

On the day of your reservation, visit the Library to pick up the pass prior to closing time. You must present your own Montville Township Public Library card with you to borrow the pass.

The cards are loaned for up to 3 days including the day you pick up the pass and it must be returned in-person one hour prior to the Library’s closing. During peak seasons, depending on demand, the loan period may be reduced to accommodate more Library patrons. Passes may not be returned in the book drop. There is a late fee of $5.00 per day for passes not returned on the due date. If you cannot return the pass on time, please make every effort to contact us. The maximum fine will not exceed $25.00. Lost passes will be charged the replacement cost of the pass to the Library plus a $5.00 processing fee.

Present your pass to the museum along with your Library card when you enter. Some locations may require a photo ID as well.

*The American Museum of Natural History provides the library with a limited number of passes each month. Unlike other museum passes, passes for the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) are distributed on a first come, first served basis on the first business day of each month at 9:00 AM. To acquire passes, please bring your valid Montville Township Library card and inquire at the Circulation Desk. Limit of 4 per household. Households may not acquire AMNH passes more than once in a six month period. If you have additional questions, please call us at 973-402-0900
