Wireless Internet Hotspots

The Library has purchased Wi-Fi Hotspots running on the T-Mobile Cellular Network for patron use. Wi-Fi Hotspots allow you to create a Wi-Fi Internet network so your personal devices can access the Internet.

Important Information

  • Hotspots loan out for 14 days and cannot be renewed. Library patrons must wait at least 24 hours after returning a hotspot before checking out another one.

  • An agreement must be signed upon checkout.

  • Hotspots must be checked out and returned at the Circulation Desk.

  • Please do NOT return hotspots in the book/media drops.

  • Hotspots are available for Montville Township Public Library cardholders in good standing ages 18+.

  • Hotspots should not be plugged in & charging at all times. Doing so can damage the battery beyond repair.

What is a wireless internet hotspot device?

A wireless internet (WiFi) hotspot device is a portable internet modem that you can use to access the internet on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or any WiFi-enabled device.

You may want to borrow a WiFi hotspot if you:

  • Are temporarily without internet at home

  • Need a reliable internet connection on the go

Where can I use the device?

You can use the device anywhere. The hotspot uses the T-Mobile cellular network for its connection, so you will get the best connection in areas with strong T-Mobile internet reception. For a good indoor connection, we recommend placing the hotspot on/near a window sill.

How do I borrow one from the library?

Hotspots can be put on hold using our catalog. You will be notified by email when the hotspot is available for pickup. You may also call 973-402-0900 - we'll place the hold request and notify you when a hotspot is available.
